I am the founder of Lotus Rescue and Rehab a small independent rescue in Southern California. I began rescuing Large dogs, Shepherds, Rottweilers, Pit Bulls because I loved the athletic dogs and their ability to interact and exercise with their owners. I felt that I could be saving dogs and helping people at the same time. I also have a small business unrelated to my rescue activities that is for and about athletes. So I like to challenge people to work out with their rescued Pit Bull in the hopes of encouraging adoptions!

My heart has also always been stolen by stray cats and their plight in the cities and in the desert and I have rescued them and their babies on and off since the 1980’s. So my rescue would not be complete without taking in both dogs and cats. Rescuing in the high desert area of San Bernardino County now, I have found that the area is overwhelmed by stray litters of kittens that get immediately put to death in the shelters, and Pit Bulls, Chihuahuas, and various mixes of stray dogs running loose and trying to survive in a desert after being dumped by humans who simply don’t want to deal with them. I am only a small rescue and often feel overwhelmed by all this but feel I have to do my part to help those I can.

As you might guess, I have big vet and boarding bills as well as the need for food, toys and training for some of the dogs. In addition I have three special needs animals in my care who are in need of specialized rehab or surgeries that have remained on hold for too long.

I work and do rescue and struggle to find funding that is willing to help independents who are not large non-profit 501(c)3 organizations. It is like having three jobs! I am falling short of both time and funds. Can you help me find the money I need to get these rescued furkids all the vet care they need?
